1.Death and Funerals
a. Do you have any international friends or a host family? If so, how would you express your condolences to them if a family member died? If not, then how would you express consolences to an American host family if their Grandmother died?b. Have you ever been to a foreign funeral?
Answer:
I actually had an experience of this situation. I have a host family in America and my host mother's mother(Host grandmother for me) suddenly passed away after about six months after I got back from America. Host grandmother was such a nice person and i could not believe that she passed away. Nobody would have thought that she would die in her age. She was still young, maybe aroud 65 or so. My host family sent me a funeal invitation card along with the introduction's of her and her life. I could not attend the funeral so i sent the message to my host family that i felt really sorry about that and told them how much i loved her.
b.Have you been to foreign funeral ?
No, I've never been to foreign funeral but when i was in Germany, i visited the cemetery and it changed the image of the cemetery or grave. In Japan, we visit the cemetery just to pray for the ancestors, so usually we go there twice or few times in a year. However, in Germany, cemetery is not only the place for pray but also the place to relax. Some people siting on the bench and reading, or the other people visit there to look aroud. When I visited the cemetery in Germany, it was a pretty sunny day, so i felt so relaxed to be there and probably i would never thought that when i visited the one in Japan.
The language of Clothes (preparation for next weeks topic):
a.Why are Japanese designer label crazy? Why is what you wear so important?
I don't know what the quetion's mean. When and why do you feel Japanese designer label crazy? I don't think Japanese designer label crazy, it's just a bussiness.
What to wear is important for me, because it's one of the expression of myself. What to wear each day is depending on how i feel or where to go on that day. I choose casual clothes when i go to school and i choose more dressy clothes when i go out with my friends. It's fun to choose clothes.
b.What does “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” mean to you?
Not to judge people what they wear. The first impression of new people is from the apperance and it's includes what they wear. However we cant tell what kind of personality they have just by their clothes. It's important to talk and have a communication with them. I tend to, not judge but check what people wear, bucause i like the fashion, even though i am not fashionable, but i should keep remember that it's just one of their style and i cant tell them by clothes. I should try to have a communication with them.

Yea, semeteries in Japan is scary. We never can relax with graves... but many people had played at semeteries, like did a test of self's courage(kimodameshi) when we were lille didn't we?? haha
Hi,thank you so much for your comments again^^
yeah, i really hated the Kimodameshi when i was a child....that's why i don't have a good image to the grave...but it changed, so i think it's a good thing^^
Hi. I wassurprised at your experience. I also have host family, but it is in Britain. You had a very sad experience. I don't have such experience. I thought dying is very sad thing for us. I felt it again.
German's cemetery is like the peace memorial park in here. That's interesting.
Hello!
I think that certain American cemeteries are similar to those in Germany, where it is more of a place to relax. I've seen people having picnics with their families by the graves of their loved ones. I think it's nice though, because that means that they're not forgotten.
First I want to comment on the designer crazy comment. Japan is world famous for buying brand labeled goods (designer brands) Every major fashion designer has a store in Japan. We could not count (because it would be too many) how many students have LV wallets or accessories.
About funerals, all of your comments are interesting and thougful. Keep up the good work!

thank you so much for your comments!! Now, I understnad the meaning of the label crazy. Yes, Japanese spend a lot of money to buy brand stuff, so there are many band shops in Japan. It could be say it's crazy... I think it's part of Japanese culture now to have a brand stuff eve though they are young...
